The Story Behind the Drawing:

I should suppose at one time or another, most young men consider the possibility of growing a beard and I was no different than most. In my fondest beard fantasies, I had hopes of growing a full, thick, blond viking-like beard. What I got instead was a rather thin, red, blond and black scraggly sort of thing. Nevertheless, I wore it for just over a year, until one day in passing a mirror, I happened to look at myself and thought... THAT has got to be the ugliest beard I have ever seen on any human face... and it's on MY face!! I decided there and then to dut it off... However, I did decide to keep the moustache and jazz patch as they seemed to be the only parts of the beard that really tried.
