The Story Behind the Painting:

I discovered this particular abandoned car, deep in the bush/swamp near where I lived and it undoubtedly is still there. I was impressed by all the bullet marks on it from the many passing hunters over the years and I still am unable to recognize what make of vehicle this is, especially with it’s “suicide doors”. In actuality it is of a dark green in colour but I felt the blue tones, reflecting the sky colour, would better suit the mood I wished to create. The unique aspect of this particular painting, is that it is titled after what is no longer exists in the scene. Whichever historical farmer had drug this no longer functional vehicle off into the bush, had apparently also decided that the only parts still of any use from it, were the roof and the hood. These parts back in the early days of farming were often turned over onto their backs, hitched to horses, and then drug around the farmers fields in order to collect and clear those fields of rocks, preparing the fields for planting… thus the name, Stoneboat.
