Availability: Original, Prints
This acrylic original is painted on hardboard with added 3- dimensional materials. originals can be painted on either hardboard or canvas and framed. Giclee prints are signed and numbered limited editions, which are then mounted on hardboard unframed (but can also be purchased framed for an additional cost) which makes them very similar in appearance to the original. These prints are available in a variety of sizes relevant to the size of the original... the larger the original the larger the print - please contact me for more information or to make a purchase.
The story behind the painting:

If I were to claim one particular skill other than my artistic efforts it would be playing pool. From the time I was quite young, my father seemed to recognize that I had a particular talent for the game and therefore was of some specific value to him. He would often take me to the bar with him and then have me play against his buddies for drinks... beers for him... pop for me. As the years passed on I continued to enjoy the game and continued to improve upon my skills. Eventually I won my share of tournaments, played on a series of very successful teams and even had the opportunity to play a few games against national champions as well as the former snooker world champion Cliff Thorburn. Ultimately I became President for six years of a pool league in Petawawa Ontario. With all of this “pool” background, it would be unsurprising if I should not at some point, take on a pool themed painting. “In the Zone” is no doubt my largest painting to date and the first painting where I have ever endeavoured to create the frame first... in this instance in the style of a billiard table, including pockets and cushions. I have used myself as the subject of this work, with “young” me taking on “old” me. I suspect we would all like to be as good as we once were... but have to try and satisfy ourselves if we can simply try to occasionally be... as good once, as we ever was.
